Nehemiah 2:20 (The message, the amplified bible, niv)

I answered them by saying, "The God of heaven will give us success.   He will make sure we succeed.  He will prosper us!  We are His servants and we are going to work, rebuilding this wall.  But as for you, you can keep your nose out of it!  You have no say in this - Jerusalem is none of your business!   You have no share, legal right, or historic claim in Jerusalem.”

When Nehemiah discovered the awful condition of the walls of Jerusalem, God laid a burden on his heart to do something about it.  Nehemiah was born into captivity, basically as a slave.  He had never been to Jerusalem.  In fact, he had never left Babylon.  But he was the son of a mother and father who may have been led away from the land of their God, yet never left their God behind them.  They raised their son to know Him and to love Him.  They raised him to honor Jehovah even when it was not popular to do so.  Even when the world conquered them and held them captive, they never allowed the world to take away their trust in Him.
